ROYAL POINCIANA TREE - 3 GALLON

Native to Madagascar, the Royal Poinciana tree is one of the worlds most striking trees when it spreads a canopy of scarlet-orange flowers over its branches. The tree will grow to 20 feet in the United States, except south Florida where it can reach heights of 45 feet. Royal Poinciana tree can be grown, for a number of years in containers. The canopy is umbrella shaped and far reaching, to more than 25 feet. Clusters of bright red to orange-red flowers are seen all over the tree in summer; so much so that the flowers often cover all of the leaves and the tree is amassed with fiery red brilliance. Each flower is 4 - 6 inches across. This is a must for any lover of flowers or flowering trees. They are cold sensitive and must be protected in winter. Little care is needed after it is established except applications of a professional-grade Flowering Tree Fertilizer (2-10-10 or similar) during the warm months.

DWARF RED POINCIANA TREE - 3 GALLON

Also known as the Barbados Flower Fence, the Dwarf Red Poinciana is a medium-sized shrub or small tree to 8 - 12 feet tall and 8 - 10 feet wide. It can easily be grown in containers and will stay much smaller if done so. Though fairly tropical, (zones 9b 11), it can be successfully grown indoors provided it receives 4 6 hours of direct sun per day. Its flowers are magnificent, red to scarlet and appear throughout late spring, summer and fall in clusters. Dwarf Red Poinciana is thorny and can be used in-ground as a border. If pruned back once per year, it will stay compact to form a natural barrier along a fence or yard. Little care is needed and can tolerate very hot and dry conditions once established. It is also moderately tolerant of salt.

JACARANDA - 3 GALLON

The Jacaranda, called Caroba in its native Brazil. It is now one of Florida's most spectacular flowering trees. It can easily be grown in large containers and flowers at a young age. Flowers appear in Florida in early spring before its leaves appear. This is truly one of the most magnificent flowering trees we have. The Jacaranda's flowers hang in clusters, covering the entire tree. They are fast growing as well, reaching heights of 25-30 feet in less than 10 years here in St. Petersburg. They are considerably smaller when potted, but blooms will still cover the entire tree for often times more than a month, before the foliage appears. 17-5-11 Nursery fertilizer is recommended during the warm months. After established, aside from regular applications of fertilizing, no care need be given for this tree.
